The best story my Aunt shared with me about the sandpaper was when they were checking out at the grocery store one day. The young cashier was passing their items over the scanner and got their finger/hand caught on a sharp edge of the conveyer belt. They lamented about how that was the nth time that happened that day and the manager hadn't fixed it yet. My uncle said "oh, I can help you with that" and pulled that sandpaper out and sanded it down. The cashier was so grateful.
